Spinozzi Racing – 2013 year in review
Posted: Sunday, December 15th 2013
For Spinozzi Racing, the 2013 ANDRA Drag Racing season marked the debut of the team’s new 2013 Chevrolet Camaro, the first of its kind to enter the ranks of Australian Pro Stock. The car has had many heads turning, with many people saying that the car is one of the best Pro Stock cars that they have ever seen.
The car made its competition debut at the 2013 Nitro Champs and was the first time that the team had raced since the 2013 Fuchs Lubricants Winternationals. In the lead up to the event, the team had spent several weekends at open test and tunes and private track hires at Sydney Dragway to get the new car teething issues sorted out. At the Nitro Champs, the Spinozzi Racing team ended qualifying in the 6th position with a 7.06 second time slip. Unfortunately the team lost in the opening round to Denis Whiting, however, it wasn’t for lack of trying. The Spinozzi Racing team turned in their career best speed of 195mph.
Several weeks later, the team headed north to Willowbank Raceway for the 2013 running of the Fuchs Lubricants Winternationals. The team managed to qualify for the field on the bump with a time of 7.10 seconds. This setup a first round match up with the Jason Grima Motorsports team. After losing in the opening round on the Sunday night, once again the Fuchs Lubricants Winter nations were cancelled on Monday due to inclement weather.
In the weeks leading up to the Nationals, Sydney and surrounding areas had been plagued with bushfires, causing the weather conditions to be tough for the ‘factory hot rods’. The team did manage to qualify for the event with a time of 7.15 seconds, placing the team on the bump with a first round match up with Nitro Chanps winner and Nationals #1 qualifier – Lee Bektash.
Spinozzi Racing would like to thank all of the team’s hardworking crew for their commitment to the team’s racing efforts throughout the 2013 season.
The team would also like to welcome the new sponsors that have joined the team during the 2013 season – Sydney Truck Centre, Western Filters and Soligo Concrete.
In closing, Spinozzi Racing would like to thank the following sponsors for their commitment to the team’s racing efforts for 2013 and look forward to a successful season together in 2014 – Terra Civil, Hitatchi Construction Machinery, Sydney Truck Centre, Western Filters, Soligo Concrete, RC Performance Engines, Sloanbuilt Trailers, Pasta Italia, Optimum Fire, Corfield Media Solutions and Mitre 10 Kemps Creek.
