Challenging weekend for Spinozzi Racing at East Coast Nationals
Posted: Tuesday, November 17th 2015
The 2015/2016 Pro Stock championship season commenced last weekend (November 7th and 8th) at the East Coast Nationals at Sydney Dragway for Spinozzi Racing.
Spinozzi Racing was looking for a better start to the season than what they had experienced. Not only did qualifying experience delays due to the wet weather, the team were also forced to change a motor after the completion of the first session of qualifying. The team finished qualifying in the fifth position (7.001/193.79).
“After we made our first qualifying run we knew that we should have run quicker than what we did (7.126/193.40). As a team we made the decision to be cautious and change the engine so that we didn’t risk making things worse than what they were. After changing the motor, we noticed that the engine change hadn’t made things any better. It wasn’t until we lost in the first round that we found a problem with the ignition system. ” said Emilio Spinozzi, team owner and driver.
Despite losing in the first round to Tyronne Tremayne, Emilio was .009 on the tree, then running 7.005/193.22, making the best of the situation the team was presented with.
Crew chief Michael Marriott said that despite facing these issues at the opening event, there is no reason the team will be hindered throughout the rest of the season.
“It’s no secret that we’re disappointed with the way things went over the weekend, But we have some time now to go over the car before the next round.
Spinozzi Racing would like to thank the Sydney Dragway track crew and event staff for their commitment to the races in difficult weather conditions as well Terra Civil, Hitachi Construction Machinery, Sydney Truck Centre, Sloane built Trailers, Soligo Concrete, Kemps Creek Mitre 10, Western Filters, Motorsport Database, Pasta Italia, Optimum Fire, Al’s Race Glides, Smithfield Diff and Gear, VP Racing Fuels, Brasswell Carburetion, Leanders Clutches, Menscer motorsports, Street Car Fabrication, Proforce Motorsports and Corfield Media Solutions for their continued support of the team.
